Showroom
The Chandelier is a full size copy of a 17th century English oak chandelier originally ordered by the National Portrait Gallery for the National Trust at Montecute House, Devon.
The balustrade and balusters are copies of those made for a Schloss in Bavaria.
The ceiling paintings are original 17th century Dutch, and are part of a collection from a Dutch tea room.
The ceiling was designed around the paintings, made and installed by Davies and Davies Ltd.
The settee is a copy of an original George III settee that was restored and rebuilt by Davies and Davies Ltd.. The original was a worm ridden carcass requiring to be completely dismantled in order to reinforce and re-establish the joinery. It was a unique opportunity to make precise templates from a dismembered frame.
The walls of the showroom are an ever changing display of frames and artifacts.
Below centre shows the basement storage racks. The racking is organised sequentially by date and country for quick retrieval of frames of a specific period and style. |
